TELEGENT SYSTEMS CEO WEIJIE YUN NAMED 2008 ERNST & YOUNG ENTREPRENEUR OF THE YEAR® IN NORTHERN CALIFORNIA
Award Recognizes Entrepreneurial Excellence in the Emerging Company Category
SUNNYVALE, CA – June 24, 2008 – Telegent Systems, the company that makes television mobile with its high-performance single-chip mobile TV solutions, today announced that chief executive officer and co-founder Weijie Yun received the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year® 2008 Award for Northern California. The award recognizes outstanding entrepreneurs who are building and leading dynamic, growing businesses. Yun was selected by an independent panel of judges, and the award was presented at a gala event held at San Francisco’s Fairmont Hotel June 21.
Under Yun's leadership, Telegent has delivered a breakthrough technology that has transformed the landscape of the mobile TV industry, by enabling phones to receive TV broadcasts from both analog and digital broadcast standards. Telegent's support for analog standards is unique in the industry, enabling manufacturers to provide consumers with worldwide access to free, live TV programming using existing broadcast infrastructure that has been built out over the last sixty years. This capability has led to shipments that have now surpassed those of all other digital subscription standards combined, resulting in millions of mobile TV viewers in Asia, Latin America, the Middle East, Europe and Africa.
